PHOTOS: Umlaut @ Enmore Theatre 2 December 2009

UMLAUT
is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist, Clinton "Bär" McKinnon.

Bär (pronounced "bear") is most well known for his woodwinds and keys duties in Mr Bungle, which also starred the incredibly eclectic and always busy Mike Patton (Faith No More, Fantômas, and Peeping Tom + MANY others), and Trey Spruance (Secret Chiefs 3).

Umlaut was formed after Bär moved to Melbourne - falling in love with an Aussie girl while on tour with Mr Bungle - and they have been heavily cited as a Rock and Roll band with out the Rock. Instead, dark ambience, metal guitars, shiny pop, and many a cartoonish diversion is on offer for those music lovers who like their tunes slightly more left of centre. Their debut, self-titled album was released earlier this year.

Recently, Umlaut were asked to join Les Claypool's Australian tour and succeeded to entertain, humour, and confuse audiences around the country, warming up the stage for the bass virtuoso.
